• Sunshine

At last sunshine, to help all our herbs and flowers grow on. We certainly haven’t been short of water for them!

The lovely calendula is taking it’s time flowering, but the rosemary and most definitely the nettles are growing furiously. The peppermint is growing in abundance too; it seems to like the weather we have had. Our lavender is another slow starter as are the roses which in a usual year would be flowering. They will come though, and thankfully we stored plenty of last year’s herbs/flowers, to use when we make soap.

Good news for fans of our Totally Plain Soap, it’s back on the website for sale. Such a popular soap, and so often in demand. Gardeners and people with sensitive skin seem to like its fragrance free, moisturising qualities. However all our soaps are very moisturising, our recipe sees to that.

  • Out and about ...

We have been getting out and about over the last few months, exhibiting and visiting shows, talking to buyers and generally letting people know about us. We have explained how all our products are natural, palm oil free and inspired by the English country garden.

We are now particularly keen to talk to potential wholesale customers, but we are always pleased when we get repeat orders from our website. Restaurants and B&B’s may appreciate our soaps, hand wash and hand & nail cream.

The “patch” remains dormant, while our herbs and flowers wait for some warmer days. Our roses have had some special attention, lots of our lovely horse muck to nourish them. The herbs don’t like a lot of fuss, so they are left much to themselves, just waiting for that bit of sun, indeed as we all are! Our chickens have had their annual forage in the polytunnel during the winter. They thank us with gorgeous eggs, and get rid of all the slugs.

As Mother’s Day approaches, what about treating your mum to some lovely, moisturising, handmade, English soap, our gorgeous “Rose” range skin care, or a special, essential oil, soy candle.

Enjoy spring; it is on its way!!

  • November on and off the Patch

So it’s the last day of November and though it has been very mild it is very dreary today, ideal for a nice soak later with our Lavender soap!

November has been a very busy month. We exhibited at the Country Living show in London, for the first time. It was great to showcase our products to a wider audience, and also to launch our new “Rose“ range of natural, palm oil free Hand wash, Hand & Nail Cream and Body Butter.

I was thrilled with the response from visitors; they really seemed to be impressed. I also like being able to explain to people why our soaps are just a bit different, and see their surprise when I tell them we grow our own herbs and flowers that we use. It was also good to see people enjoying the fragrance of our essential oil soy candles.

So on the run up to Christmas; we are putting the “patch” to bed for the winter. The polytunnel houses some of our precious herbs in case winter decides to bite like it did last year.

On that note I wish you all have a very Happy Christmas and New Year.

  • Summer has been a bit of a whirl!

We have spent it rebranding, having new packaging created and developing our new, natural, palm oil free, “Rose” range of hand wash, hand cream, and body butter.

We are thrilled with our “Rose” products, which contain helpful oils and waxes, and are fragranced with essential oil of Rose Geranium. The body butter is wonderfully, nourishing with rosehip oil. The creams are richly moisturising, and the hand wash convenient for everyday use. As with all our products they are inspired by our English country garden. The “Rose” range is being launched at the Country Living Fair, London, in November.

Coming shortly to the website will be our “posh” new guest soaps. Well the soaps are the same lovely soaps as always, but they are packaged individually in smart cardboard. These are ideal for hotels, B&B’s, guest houses, for people with second homes, or as a way of finding out your own favourite soap.

If you are coming to the Country Living Fair, in London, do come along and say “hello”, we would love to see you! (We're on stand C3)

  • We've been busy!

I think you will find the colours of our new logo much more cheerful, and the design just explains what Nellie’s Patch is all about, natural products, made and inspired by our very English country garden.

As always we are committed to being palm oil free. All our products are, and will continue to be. We maintain our support of International Animal Rescue, and donate 10p from every soap sold on the website or at shows.

I hope you enjoy looking at our homemade boxed soaps and boxed soy candles, with 100% essential oils. Our new skin care products will be officially launched at the Country Living Christmas Fair, London, in November.

So do enjoy a look around, and join our newsletter group to be informed about what’s new and hot at Nellie’s Patch.
